Opposition
MPs walked out of the debating chamber this morning to protest swearing in of
five new representatives from Zanzibar.
In a
move that appears to be planned, the opposition lawmakers especially those from
CUF arrived early in the hall and started walking out when the National
Assembly clerk Dr Thomas Kashilila started calling the new members to take oath
of obidience.
The
National Assembly is constitutionally made up of elected and appointed MPs; and
five members from the House of Representatives in Zanzibar.
However,
CUF refused to participate in the March 20, 2016 Zanzibar re-election and
therefore they do not recognise the new CCM members.
Four
representatives took the oath and one did not attend.
The
four include Ms Amina Iddi Mabrouk, Mr Hussein Ibrahim Makungu, Mr Machano
Othman Said and Ms Wanu Hafidh Ameir.
Mr
Jaku Hashim Ayoub was not around.
